How to create your perfect wedding timeline
Creating a timeline for your wedding is crucial to ensure you get everything captured that you want captured on your big day! While I do have a mental shot list for every wedding, there may not always be time to capture everything. This is why I will help you create a timeline!
A few months before the wedding, I’ll reach out to discuss the important moments you want photos of for the rest of your lives! Knowing the important moments you want to be captured, such as the first dance, cutting the cake, family photos, etc. will help us be able to determine the time that needs to be carved out to ensure we get these photos.
Once I have a better idea of your expectations, we’ll start creating a timeline for your wedding day. This should include the time of the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and any other important events. I will make sure to include some time for any unexpected events! If hair and makeup is running late, a family member isn’t at the venue yet for family photos.. lots of things can happen on a wedding day and I will make sure to adjust the timeline to make sure the important moments are still included in your gallery!
After booking, I will send a questionnaire your way with a couple of questions about certain “shots” you want during the day but I don’t need a complete shot list. With 9 years of wedding photography experience under my belt, I don’t find a shot list necessary. Your wedding will be documented as the day goes on but if you specify that you want a photo with one of your family members, make sure to tell me! You know your family better than I do, so those things need to be discussed before the big day. There will be so much excitement during the day, you may forget to ask!
Although a timeline is constructed, I find it important to be able to be flexible with it. Your ceremony may be running late, While having a plan is important, it's also important to be flexible and adaptable. If things don't go exactly according to plan, I will be prepared to adjust your timeline accordingly.
The most important part to create your perfect timeline is to communicate with your wedding photographer! Upon inquiring, I will give you my email, Facebook, instagram, and phone number so you can text or call me! So let’s do this. Let’s perfect your timeline today!
