Pop-Up Magic at Hello Doe: Tattoos, Jewelry, + Small Business Energy in Astoria, Oregon

This past Saturday, Doe & Arrow hosted one of the most vibrant spring pop-ups I’ve had the joy of photographing. It was everything a good event should be—welcoming, fun, and filled with people showing up to support their favorite local makers. From flash tattoos and permanent jewelry to raffle giveaways and fresh spring merch, it was a full day of celebration and community in the heart of downtown Astoria.

I’ve loved this shop for years, and finally getting to meet the owner (another Chelsea!) was such a highlight. She’s the kind of person who pours love into every detail—from the kiddo goodie bags to the handcrafted tea blends—and this event was no exception.

Here’s what made this pop-up one to remember:

Throughout the day, Maia from @polished.bymaia was busy crafting permanent jewelry—delicate chains custom fit and clasped right on the spot. Across the room, @markmccormickart of @signal_tattoo was doing flash tattoos for guests bold enough to walk away with something permanent (and honestly, very cool). Little Viper Co. brought an entire table of brand-new merch to celebrate the founder’s birthday, and shoppers sipped wine and browsed while entering raffles, picking up mystery goodie bags, and trying to guess how many jellybeans were tucked into mason jars for a chance to win gift cards.

Even the tea was special—Pat’s Pantry created a custom blend called “The Golden Glow,” and it was available for purchase alongside complimentary snacks and drinks.

Everywhere you looked, people were connecting. Smiling. Supporting. Events like this are more than just fun—they’re a reminder of what it looks like when small businesses lift each other up and create space for the community to come together.

As a photographer, these are the days I live for. I got to capture real moments of joy, creativity, and connection—no stiff poses, just people being their rad selves in a space that feels like home.
