where to eat (and drink) in astoria, oregon this summer

If you're planning a trip to Astoria or just need an excuse to get out of the house and try something new, this list is for you. These are the restaurants, breweries, and bars I keep recommending to friends—and honestly, places I’ll take any excuse to revisit.

Whether you’re in town for the weekend, day-tripping from Portland, or just lucky enough to live nearby, here’s where to eat (and drink) right now in Astoria:

Fort George Brewery

If you haven’t been to Fort George yet, are you even in Astoria? This brewery is a staple for a reason—great beer, killer pizza, and a vibe that hits just right whether you’re out with friends or on a solo lunch mission. The outdoor patio is the summer hangout, and their constantly rotating beer list means you’ll never get bored.

What to order: any seasonal IPA, wood-fired pizza, and if you’re downstairs, the vegan Nashville chicken sandwich is the best thing I’ve had in a while.
Why it’s worth the stop: Iconic patio, creative beer, and a true Astoria institution.

The Knot Bar at Bowline Hotel

Inside the Bowline Hotel, you’ll find The Knot—one of the coziest, most aesthetic cocktail spots in town. It’s right on the river, moody in the best way, and perfect for those “just one drink” nights that turn into staying for a second (or third). Locals love it, and visitors always want to come back.

What to order: the cocktail for a cause, the espresso martini, and of course, their housemate focaccia.
Why it’s worth the stop: Waterfront views, stunning interior, and cocktails that are actually worth the price.

La Cabaña de Raya

This cozy Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away in Astoria. With bold flavors, generous portions, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family, La Cabaña de Raya is a must-stop if you're craving something comforting and authentic.

What to order: the guisado de camarón (shrimp stew) is always my go-to—rich, savory, and full of flavor. Pair it with a peach margarita (trust me), and if you're sharing, grab the carnitas tacos—my boyfriend’s favorite.

Why it’s worth the stop: It’s casual, delicious, and the kind of place you’ll want to come back to weekly. Perfect for a low-key date night or a post-adventure meal.

Inferno Lounge

Need a spot to end your night with a bang? Inferno Lounge has you covered. Think neon signs, strong drinks, and music that keeps the energy going. It’s vibey, it’s a little chaotic, and it’s exactly what you want when you're not ready to go home yet.

What to order: always get at least one red vines vodka lemonade, and of course the pineapple tequila margarita, and pair it with an exploding weiner obviously!
Why it’s worth the stop: Great music, fun crowd, and a super fun atmosphere.

Astoria Coffee House & Bistro

Morning, noon, or night—this spot holds it down. It’s part espresso bar, part bistro, and fully reliable. Whether you’re hungover and need a giant breakfast burrito or you’re dressed up for date night, they’ve got something on the menu for you.

What to order: right now the jalapeño diablo, the chili relleno burger, and I personally love their vegan breakfast sandwich paired with a mimosa.
Why it’s worth the stop: Great food, casual charm, and one of the most versatile menus in town.

Surf 2 Soul

A local gem that brings soul food to the coast. Their shrimp po’boys and wings are insane in the best way, and it’s the kind of place where everything tastes homemade. Come hungry—and maybe don’t wear white if you’re ordering the saucy stuff.

What to order: the stacked mac, a shrimp po’boy, and the apple hushpuppies.
Why it’s worth the stop: Comfort food with flavor that punches way above its price point.
